Start Your Adventure Into The Horse's Mind
Welcome To The Real Wild West
The Ardnamurchan Peninsula is a magical wilderness hidden away in the Western Highlands of Scotland. The furthest point west on the British Isles, it is home to a wealth of flora and fauna. Minky whale, basking shark and orcas glide majestically past the Ardnamurchan light house, deer, pine martin and red squirrels explore the forests and sea eagles, golden eagles and a huge array of sea birds fill the skies.
This landscape of awe and wonder is what led us to move here 3 years ago, our home is nestled into the Atlantic Temperate Rainforest, like something from a fairy tale, the oak woods date back 10,000 years to the end of the last ice age and radiate with an abundance of symbiotic relationships.
Nature And Nurture
Our little herd of Shetland ponies have evolved to thrive in this untamed environment, in the winter they head out onto the hill to graze and heather, rushes and seaweed. In the summer they come home to the forest, browsing on low branches, native grasses and wild flowers. The space they occupy is vast and their presence serves to conserve and enrich the landscape: manure fertilises the soil, their grazing keeps the rushes and gorse from taking over, trees regenerate faster and are protected from disease by the ponies' saliva sealing their branches.
Horse/Human Harmony
We are careful to preserve this incredible place and nurture those within it: flora, fauna, ponies and people. Our guests come from around the world to discover how we incorporate this unique environment into creating our force-free, horse-led approach. Owners, carers and professionals experience how a knowledge of ethology explains their motivation, evolution reveals their perception and close attention highlights equine communication these key concepts are combined to create a truly magical horse/human relationship.
Our adventures with guests take us across the beaches, over the mountains and through the ancient forests with the herd roaming freely beside us. We observe how they navigate this landscape and request connection with us in the most natural, instinctive way possible.
The Perfect Paths To Horse/Human Harmony
Three paths to explore:
Understanding what motivates your horse's behaviour from an ethological perspective.
Knowing how horses' physiology affects their perception of the world and us.
Recognising and understanding horse's communication signals.
A More Harmonious Partnership
Once we have this knowledge, understanding and skill in place, we can cut through the noise of misunderstanding and misinterpretation and hear the answers straight from the horse's mouth! This then creates a safer, closer, mutually beneficial relationship that continues to grow forever.
